Digital Lumens, which provides software to remotely manage warehouse lighting powered by light-emitting diodes (LEDs), announced today that it has raised $10 million in its second round of funding.

The company specializes in making LED lighting fixtures that attach to a wireless mesh network. Building owners can then manage that lighting network through a web-based interface. The online component also tracks a number of statistics, such as light and energy usage and building efficiency.

The global high-brightness LED market doubled last year, jumping from $5.6 billion in 2009 to $10.8 billion in 2010, according to LED market research firm Strategies Unlimited. Making LEDs affordable for retail and city installations is the next big step in LED lighting — which is already present in laptop and computer monitors — as manufacturers continue to try to cut costs and increase efficiency.

Retail-level LED lighting has garnered a little more interest this year and last despite some concerns about lighting costs at that scale. Last year, Taiwan's SemiLEDs went public in the U.S. and Lighting Science Group filed for a $150 million IPO this year. LED lighting company Bridgelux recently raised $21 million. Intematix is also considering a public offering.

Black Coral Capital, Flybridge Capital Partners and Stata Venture partners participated in the round. The Boston, Mass.-based company has raised $25 million to date.
